AJ Junnarkar, Downtown Aquarium
Downtown Aquarium proudly welcomed AJ Junnarkar to the culinary team in summer of 2005, as its Banquet and Special Events Chef. Chef AJ brings his special culinary flair and expertise to the table for groups of fifty to five-hundred. His extraordinary talent and unique presentation brings pleasure to palates from America to France to India. Most recently, Chef AJ has been promoted to Executive Chef of the Downtown Aquarium.
Prior to Downtown Aquarium, Chef was named executive chef of Hotel Derek in 2003. He oversees all aspects of kitchen operations for the hotel, including room service, catering as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner at Maverick, Hotel Derek's on-site restaurant.
Chef AJ, who has more than 18 years of culinary experience, worked at several of Houston's finest hotels including the Four Seasons, Intercontinental Hotel, Ritz Carlton and the Adams Mark. In addition, he has served in various positions at restaurants in Houston and India that feature traditional Indian cuisine. Taking a departure from the hospitality industry, Chef AJ also managed catering operations for one of Houston's oldest grocery store chains.
