Alan Lagarde, Fosters Wine Estates America's
Alan Lagarde began his wine career over 23 years ago as the Wine Buyer at Ratcliffe's Continental Seafood's in Dallas. Ratcliffe's was one of the first Wine Spectator Grand Award winners in Texas. From there he spent three years at Marty's, one of the most respected and prominent retailers in the Southwest for over sixty years.
Since 1988, Alan has worked in various capacities in the wholesale end of the wine business, ranging from Director of Fine Wines to Key Accounts Manager to Fine Wine Manager. Alan was named a "Wine Revolutionary" by "D" Magazine, calling him "a powerful force behind most of the avant-garde wine lists in town and a highly respected straight shooter". He was also selected as one of the original Quintessa brand mangers in the US. In addition, he was selected to attend both the 1999 and 2000 vintage Union des Grand Crus Bordeaux tastings in France to assess the quality of the vintage. Alan has completed the first level of the Master Sommelier certification.
In his current position as State Manager, On Premise Texas for Fosters Wine Estates America's, the parent company of Beringer, Penfolds, Chateau St. Jean, Stags' Leap Winery, Rosemount, and another 25 or so wineries. Alan's primary focus is on Restaurant sales, distributor and trade education, and the Prestige segment of the portfolio. He recently was named as the company 2005 Restaurant Challenge Winner.
Alan and his wife of 22 years, Lisa, live in Dallas with their three children, Ali, 16, John, 14, and Lydia, 10.
