Ed and Susan Auler, Fall Creek Vineyards
Susan and Ed Auler are involved in numerous business activities in Texas, namely real estate, ranching, mineral development, and since 1975 Fall Creek Vineyards. Four hundred acres of land was purchased for Fall Creek Vineyards in a unique soil and microclimate area on the northwest shores of Lake Buchanan in Llano County after a trip in 1973 to France made them aware of the similarities of the terroir between the Hill Country and France. The Aulers have combined old world winemaking traditions and new world technological innovations to produce world class wines that are highly successful in the marketplace. They were the first to bring wine-growing to the Texas Hill Country, and Ed established the "Texas Hill Country" appellation in 1989 with the B.A.T.F. Fall Creek Vineyards has been at the forefront of the Texas wine industry, both in terms of awards and sales and is the third largest winery in sales in Texas.
Susan was the founder of the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival, which began in 1986 and continues as one of the most successful wine and food festivals in the U. S. today.
